It was on Monday morning, March 8, that a bus and a train collided at Hisingen in Gothenburg.

The bus was to be driven back to the depot and was empty of passengers when the crash occurred.

- When you turn out onto Lillhagsvägen, you have a duty to give way.

If the bus is waiting for other traffic, you will be standing there at the railway crossing.

There may have been a car in front of the bus as well, but the space is not large.

It's just speculation so far, but we think it has happened, says Anders Larsson, safety strategist at Västtrafik.

But your picture is that the driver stops, and when he has to drive again, the engine does not start?

- Yes.

Must have done "everything right"

The opinion of both Västtrafik and the bus company Keolis is that the driver did the right thing.

He put on warning lights, left the bus and alerted 112 and the traffic management.

But the time was too short to have time to inform the train driver that the train must be stopped.

Karin Nilsson Malmén, Communications Director at Keolis, emphasizes that it is part of the investigation's work to check which calls were made when and where, and how the recipient of the calls reacted.

- These are the kind of issues we are looking at now.

But the bus stopped and could not start again, she says.

With the results in hand, she is most happy that no one was injured.

- Because when you watch the film, so ... We are very happy about it.

There have been plans for several years to rebuild the intersection, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.

The gas buses here to stop

Many who contacted SVT Nyheter Väst have questioned the gas buses.

Since it was a gas bus, the rescue service decided on a safety distance of 300 meters that affected traffic and surroundings.

According to Västtrafik, there are no plans to phase out the hundreds of gas buses that run in the region.

- We will have gas buses in the future and will order new ones.

There is no greater risk that it starts to burn in a gas bus than in any other bus, even if the consequence of a fire looks different, says Anders Larsson.

Electric buses are so far only something for city centers.

- It depends on mileage, charging options and infrastructure.

In the region, we stick to gas buses and ultimately biodiesel, he says.
