An American woman in her 60s, raised in an adoptive family, found her biological father based on genetic information, but was identified as a wanted offender by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Kathy Zilkist, 63, from the U.S., said she had been adopted during a DNA test in 2017 and is willing to find other relatives.

The tests confirmed that his cousin lived in Maine, and surprisingly, the two had the same job as English teachers in the same college major.

CNN reported on the 8th (local time) that Jill Christ decided to find other family members with cousin Susan Gilmore, who had learned through DNA testing.

As a result of the follow-up, Jill Christine found out that he was adopted in 1957, and confirmed the personal information of his birth mother.

The process of finding the father took many more years, and the news was shocking.

His father, William Bradford Bishop Jr., has been wanted by the US government since the 1970s, and has been on the FBI's main wanted list since 2014.

According to the FBI, Bishop was wanted on March 1, 1976 in Bethesda, Maryland, for assaulting and killing a 68-year-old mother, a 37-year-old wife, and their 5, 10, and 14-year-old sons, respectively.

Bishop was also charged with moving and damaging the body after murdering his family.

Bishop earned a bachelor's degree in American Studies from Yale University and a master's degree in Italian from Middlebury University in Vermont.

It is said that the date he committed the murder coincided with the date he was eliminated from promotion to the State Department.

When a picture of Bishop was released in 2014, an employee at a funeral home in Scottsboro, Alabama reported that he had seen a body similar to that of Bishop in 1981, but it was confirmed that this was not a result of comparing the body DNA.

Gilchrist published a book about the process of finding a family through DNA testing.

"It's unclear if my mother knew about my father's past, but I'm happy to know all of this as I get older," he said. "If my father is alive, he's 84 this year. I believe he's alive and still fleeing."
