Berlin (dpa) - ARD and ZDF can now broadcast games of the European Football Championship 2024 in Germany.

Around a year and a half after the defeat in rights poker, the two public broadcasters agreed with Telekom on a sub-license for the home championship.

The first and the second show 34 of the 51 matches at the tournament in three years, including all games of the German team.

RTL has secured the 17 other games, as Deutsche Telekom announced.

Surprisingly, in October 2019, Telekom had secured all of the media rights for the European Championship in Germany from the European Football Union (UEFA) and prevailed against ARD and ZDF, among others, in the tender.
