The program management for Skåne's digital healthcare system (SDV) is now proposing a new timetable for the introduction of the new American medical record system Millennium.

According to the management, the proposal will form the basis for the regional board's future decision on the transfer of patient data and commissioning of the system.

SDV writes on Tuesday: “To be able to test the system properly, SDV needs to use patient data.

The hope is that the regional board will already on March 26 decide that data for testing can be transferred to the system, and then on April 29 decide on full operational approval. "

Delayed by two years

Originally, the new medical record system would begin to be introduced at Skåne University Hospital (SUS) in November 2020. The new schedule now means that the project has been delayed by two years.

The reasons for the delay are stated to be partly the delay caused by the investigation of the legal aspects of the American company Cerner's handling of the Scanians' patient data, and partly the corona.

According to SDV, the first investigation into the handling of personal data must now be completed.

SVT Nyheter Skåne has requested the investigation but has not yet been allowed to take part in it.

Earlier, several experts and the Minister for Digitalisation, Anders Ygeman, told SVT that the transfer of patient data to US-owned companies is contrary to Swedish and European law.

This is because US authorities have the right to access the information under US law.

Introduced in autumn 2022

According to the new schedule, the introduction of the Millennium will begin in late autumn 2022 at the hospitals in Lund, Malmö, Landskrona and Trelleborg, together with palliative care and advanced care at home.

SVT Nyheter Skåne and Uppdrag Granskning have in several articles examined the introduction of the new journal system:
