Cologne (dpa / lni) - SV Meppen had to accept a bitter damper in the relegation battle of the 3rd division.

The Emsländer lost on Tuesday in the catch-up game at Viktoria Köln with 0: 1 (0: 0) and fell back to 15th place in the table.

After a weak first half, Meppen was clearly the better team in the second round, but gave too many chances.

Instead, Mike Wunderlich scored the winner from Cologne in the 78th minute.

Shortly afterwards, after an aerial duel between Cologne goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz and striker René Guder, the guests demanded a penalty, which referee Martin Speckner did not give.

"If he doesn't whistle, then I don't know why he became a referee," said Meppen's coach Torsten Frings angrily after the game at Magentasport.
