Berlin (dpa / bb) - Berlin restaurants should be able to use the largest possible space for outdoor dining this year.

On Tuesday, as in 2020, the Senate passed a regulation that allows the districts to waive any special usage fees.

Because of the corona pandemic, in the previous year, many innkeepers had expanded their outdoor catering and placed tables and chairs on sidewalks or parking spaces in order to be able to cater to their guests as pandemic compliant as possible.

Some counties supported this and did not charge for using public highway land.

This possibility is now also available in the second Corona year - however, restaurants are still closed due to the lockdown.
