Paris (dpa) - Chanel had invited a few stars to the Grand Palais for Haute Couture in January, the prêt-à-porter show has now been filmed behind completely closed doors.

The legendary Parisian nightclub "Castel" served as the location, where the models appear to be putting on a show for themselves.

In the film, they style and make-up themselves before they take their looks for a walk in the narrow hallways of the club.

"I love contrasts, so I wanted a small room for the voluminous winter pieces," writes creative director Virginie Viard in her show notes.

The collection was also full of contrasts: padded ski overalls and voluminous fur jackets or boots alternated with shiny metallic coats and glamorous party looks.

In the previous days of Fashion Week, many designers had shown strikingly colorful collections, such as Dries Van Noten, or the duo Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh by Nina Ricci.

Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of Loewe, even spoke explicitly in his film of “color therapy” as an answer to the current crisis.

Maria Grazia Chiuri from Dior, on the other hand, used her collection as so often for a feminist message.

In the famous Hall of Mirrors of the Palace of Versailles, where the show was filmed, she had all mirrors covered so that the models and dancers could no longer see each other.

“In fairy tale films, women have a strong relationship with mirrors, which is made up of attraction and rejection.

You can often see the other's gaze in front of the mirror, ”Chiuri told the French press agency AFP.

"If we want to build our own identity, we mustn't look at ourselves in the mirror."

Digital Fashion Week comes to an end this Wednesday afternoon with the Louis Vuitton show.
