At a joint press conference with his UAE colleague Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Lavrov welcomed the decision of the administration of US President Joe Biden to return to the JCPOA.

At the same time, the minister noted, this decision has not yet been implemented, since in Washington "there is a process of understanding how to do this."

According to him, some are talking louder and louder about the need to revive the JCPOA in a modernized form.

“We are convinced that it is necessary now not to overload the task of restoring the JCPOA in full with some other, albeit very important, considerations and concerns.

In order to solve this immediate task, we consider it quite possible to work out synchronous steps, simultaneous steps, in stages that the Iranians and the United States will have to take, ”Lavrov said.

In February, Biden said at the Munich Security Conference that the United States was ready to return to the 5 + 1 JCPOA negotiations.
