Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony's Interior Minister Roland Wöller (CDU) wants to present the crime statistics for the past year this afternoon (1 p.m.).

So far it is unclear whether the corona pandemic has led to a decrease in crime over the entire period.

At the end of April 2020, Wöller reported a positive side effect of the epidemic.

At that time, the number of criminal offenses had fallen by around a quarter since the first Corona Protection Ordinance came into force in relation to the same period of the previous year.

As early as 2019, crime in Saxony decreased.

The police registered a total of almost 272,000 cases, 2.5 percent fewer than in the previous year.

The clearance rate was 56.2 percent.

Burglaries and vehicle thefts decreased the most at that time.
