Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The first people in Baden-Württemberg were vaccinated against Corona by a family doctor on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVBW) Baden-Württemberg said on Tuesday in Stuttgart, the general practitioners in the south-west are also involved in a pilot project in around 40 practices and during home visits.

In the six-week project, questions about the logistics and the vaccination process in the practices are to be clarified.

Initially, only people over the age of 80 are vaccinated.

The test run is intended to enable the vaccinations to be incorporated into the standard care provided by general practitioners.

Practices take part in almost all urban and rural districts.

The federal and state health ministers also agreed on Monday that the resident doctors in Germany should start nationwide with corona vaccinations from the beginning of April.

The spokesman for the KVBW said that as soon as enough vaccine was available and the logistics had been clarified, vaccination would of course also begin comprehensively with the family doctors - regardless of the schedule of the pilot project.

For vaccinations by general practitioners from April onwards, the vaccine should be delivered to practices in the normal way via wholesalers and pharmacies.

The vaccination centers are to remain in place for the time being.

In Baden-Württemberg, the state has so far made the vaccines available in the vaccination centers.

From there it has to be distributed to the practices.
