Trier (dpa / lrs) - The police in Trier are looking for several suspects, one of whom pretended to be a police officer last year and is said to have cheated an 87-year-old woman out of 50,000 euros.

The ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY ... unsolved” shows a corresponding search on this Wednesday (8:15 p.m.).

As the police announced on Tuesday, the fake police officer pretended that several perpetrators had been arrested in a break-in.

The name of the then 87-year-old, who lives in a senior citizens' home in Trier, was noted on a piece of paper that was found with them.

The man made the woman withdraw 50,000 euros and hand it over to someone who would collect it.

This man was recorded by video surveillance.

The police assume that he is not the original caller, said a spokesman.

The officers are now looking for witnesses.

A reward of 2,000 euros was offered for information on clearing up the crime.
