Bamberg (dpa / lby) - After a cinematic break-in into a Bamberg jewelry store, two men are on trial from today (10 a.m.).

They are said to have driven a stolen car backwards into a shop window and stolen jewelry worth more than 750,000 euros.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the men of planning several break-ins in jewelry stores with two strangers.

In January 2019, the gang used a car as a battering ram, smashed display cases and stole watches and jewelry.

They are said to have escaped with another stolen vehicle.

One of the defendants is said to have tried the scam again in November 2019 at another jeweler in Bamberg.

With two accomplices, he is said to have hit the door of the shop several times without success before the gang fled with a second car without prey.

Just two months ago there was another break-in in Bamberg - again with a car, again at the same jeweler as two years earlier.

A police spokesman said there was no direct connection between the acts.

The two suspects in the new case are out of the question for the first break-in.
