Oldenburg (dpa / lni) - A couple from Delmenhorst failed with their application before the Social Court of Oldenburg to oblige the city's job center to provide free weekly 20 FFP-2 masks per person or a reimbursement of costs.

The court announced on Tuesday that the application for an interim order had been rejected.

The couple, who receive Hartz IV benefits, argued that due to the corona pandemic, there is a mask requirement and the costs for the corresponding masks are not covered by the standard requirement according to the Social Security Code II (Hartz IV).

The job center rejected this application.

Judgment follows.

(File number S 37 AS 48/21 ER).

As a justification, the court referred to the fact that the applicants are not obliged to wear FFP-2 masks under the Corona Regulation.

They are also able to cover any existing need for FFP-2 masks through savings from the standard requirement.

According to a study by the University of Münster, FFP-2 masks could be re-used after seven days of drying.

This means that a maximum of ten FFP-2 masks would be required for one person per month.

The costs would not amount to more than ten euros per month.
