Beaten 2-1 in the first leg at FC Porto, Juventus Turin is in danger, while Borussia Dortmund, winner 3-2 at Sevilla FC, seems favorite for qualification, in the first two round of 16 second leg of Champions League, scheduled for Tuesday (20:00 GMT).

- Juve rely on stats -

Andrea Pirlo's players will be able to rely on the statistics to give themselves some hope for the return leg against FC Porto, after a very disappointing first leg, fortunately saved by Fernando Chiesa's late goal at the outside.

The Turinese have indeed imposed themselves at each reception of the Lusitano club in the Champions League: 3-1 in 2001 during the group stage, and 1-0 in the round of 16 second leg in 2017, two results which would qualify them on Tuesday.

And in C1, Porto remains on five defeats in its last five trips to Italy.

Above all, the Portuguese club have not won any of their last 13 away matches in the knockout phase of the Champions League (nine defeats, four draws).

Juventus will count on the Colombian Juan Cuadrado, current best passer in the competition with five offerings, and Alvaro Morata, author of six goals this season in C1.

And obviously on the top scorer in the history of the competition, Cristiano Ronaldo, who will be eagerly awaited, him whose recruitment at the gold price in the summer of 2018 was to allow Juve to resume a continental triumph, the last dating back to 1996.

Sacred without interruption in Serie A since 2012, the Turinese, third at seven points from the leader, Inter Milan, risk seeing their national crown finally escape them ... and must at all costs shine on the European scene.

A goal shared by Porto, 2nd in its championship and behind Sporting by ten points.

- Borussia is playing big -

The success achieved three weeks ago by the Germans in Andalusia places them in a favorable position, but they will not be able to benefit from the support of their hot public against a background of closed health.

Defeated by Bayern Munich in the league on Saturday (4-2), the BVB players point to a modest sixth place in the Bundesliga, sixteen points behind the Bavarian leader, and a successful European campaign could save this season somewhat before the arrival at the Orders for the upcoming from Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Marco Rose.

The best asset of the Ruhr club will once again be the Norwegian prodigy Erling Haaland, current top scorer in the C1 this season with eight goals and who signed a double in the first leg.

But the 20-year-old striker could not by himself avoid elimination against Paris SG at the same stage last season (2-1, 0-2).

Winner of the Europa League last August for the sixth time in fourteen years, Sevilla FC does not have the same pedigree in the main competition of European clubs.

In C1, his best performance remains a quarter-final, achieved twice in 1958 and 2018.

Sevilla, which occupies a solid 4th place in La Liga behind the big three of Atlético, Real and Barça, remains on a surprising setback in Elche on Saturday (2-1).

Mistrust, however, on the German side.

The Jaune et Noirs played only one home game against the Sevillians on the European stage, losing 1-0 in the Europa League in 2010.

Program of the knockout stages second leg of the Champions League:

(20h00 GMT) Juventus Turin (ITA) - Porto (POR)
