09 March 2021New stop to the Brazilian Supreme Court in the legal battle between former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Sila and former judge Sergio Fernando Moro, former Minister of Justice of Brazil, whom Lula accuses of bias.

The Second Chamber, after a long discussion, decided to suspend the examination of the accusations presented by Lula's lawyers against Moro at the request of Judge Nunes Marques, appointed by President Jair Bolsonaro.

The appeal to the Supreme Court was presented by Lula's lawyers in 2018 and Minister Gilmar Mendes decided to resume the examination today, following the cancellation of the sentences issued by Moro against Lula as part of the "Lava" investigation Jato ", the Brazilian tangentopoli.

Judge Edson Fachin, who yesterday overturned Lula's convictions, said he was against the continuation of the investigation against Moro.

The cancellation of the sentences, according to Fachin, should have also extinguished the investigation into the alleged partiality of Moro.

In light of Fachin's vote against, many in Brazil suspect that the annulment of Lula's convictions was decided by the Supreme Judge in a monochromatic manner, especially to defend Moro and the investigations of the Curitiba Prosecutor's Office, responsible for the Lava investigation Jato.

Lula has postponed a press conference initially organized for today until tomorrow, pending the decision of the Supreme Court on the accusations against Moro.
