Münster (dpa) - In the abuse complex of Münster, the district court in the Westphalian city announced another judgment today.

A 27-year-old man from Aachen has to answer for multiple serious sexual abuse of children in different places.

Among them is the foster son of the IT technician from Münster accused in the main process.

On the penultimate day of the trial, the public prosecutor had demanded ten years and eight months imprisonment for the 27-year-old.

For the first time in the complex, the prosecution also spoke out in favor of subsequent preventive detention.

In their plea, the defense made no request for the amount of the penalty, but refused preventive detention.

It serves to protect the general public from dangerous perpetrators, even after the actual prison sentence has been served.

Statements by the 27-year-old - also as a witness in another trial - had led to the arrest of the main defendant's partner.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the mother of failing to prevent the abuse of her own child.

Further lawsuits - such as against the IT technician, who is considered the main culprit, and other defendants - are pending at the Münster District Court.

Judgments are not expected here until spring.

Alongside Lügde and Bergisch Gladbach, Münster is one of three large crime complexes in North Rhine-Westphalia that have been uncovered since 2019.

It is about sexual violence against a large number of children and about large networks of suspects.

The Münster case came to light in June 2020 after an investigation in a gazebo.

In the course of this, there had been arrests in several federal states and abroad.

Nationwide proceedings against almost 30 suspects are ongoing in the complex.

A man from Schleswig-Holstein has already been sentenced to three years and three months in prison.

He had made a confession and thus spared the victim a testimony in court.

Two men from Hanover were sentenced to prison terms of almost eight and just over four years.

However, these judgments are not yet final.
