President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi raised controversy again when he considered that the opening of the new administrative capital of Egypt would be tantamount to the birth of a "new republic", calling for "good preparation" for this great event, which was postponed for a year due to the Corona pandemic, and inviting intellectuals, intellectuals and artists to participate in this declaration.

In his speech delivered on Tuesday during the thirty-third educational symposium of the armed forces, Al-Sisi explained that Egypt is moving at a steady and stable pace, and that the issue is not just buildings, but rather a great development, according to him, indicating that the opening of the capital and the government’s move to it does not mean leaving Cairo, Alexandria and other places. Cities, stressing: "We will proceed with strength in the old and the new."

The activities of the 33rd educational symposium for the armed forces were held in New Cairo, on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Martyr, which Egypt celebrates on the ninth of March of each year, in memory of the departure of the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Army, Abdel Moneim Riad.

Mixed reactions

Reactions to Sisi's speech were mixed, as most Egyptian media outlets close to the regime highlighted it, and a number of social media followers supported it as a new shift for the Egyptian state under President Sisi's rule, demanding that his call be well prepared for this important national occasion.

On the other hand, others played down the importance of the declaration, and even ridiculed it, asserting that the new republics are not expressed in new buildings but are built with development, justice, equality and freedoms, and that the most prominent features of the new republics in modern countries are related to the announcement of new constitutions and building economic and social systems that benefit the peoples.

President Al-Sisi at the educational symposium of the armed forces, and on Martyr's Day, announces the birth of a "new state and a new republic" when the new administrative capital is inaugurated ... and we did not and will not leave Cairo and the rest of the republic's cities ...

It is not another republic ... this is a new Egyptian capital with the most modern world systems ... Egypt ... one republic.

Long live Egypt with its faithful, wise president, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, with its beautiful, educated, conscious youth, who loves his country and its president.

Egypt deserves a new country and declaring a new republic to keep pace with development and forgetting a past that may be stupid to it and its errors, laziness, laziness and negativity. Now, with a strong leader, Amen President El-Sisi, the man moved Egypt within 5 years from the local to the world and showed Egypt's shining shine, so the Egyptian civilization and forgotten monuments brightened up and the manifestations of achievements appeared pic.twitter.com / CnInNjT11j

Sisi: The New Administrative Capital .. Announcing a New Republic!

This is the employment of contractors in the politics of the new republics, it is not related to changing the threshold of your house, the new republics are linked to major shifts in the systems of government!

Al-Sis thinks that building the new administrative capital is building

a new republic. One understands that the new republics are not built with cement, palaces and debts,

but rather build by progressing constitutions, development, justice, equality and freedoms.

Do you imagine that someone thinks that a reformer, a new republic, with us new buildings, will remain a head of state?

This is a disaster by all standards, because this remains a president of a city, not a president of a republic.

And the biggest disaster is that those who are left behind by states are supposed to be statesmen.

God Almighty is a shame on us.

Al-Sisi's announcement of what he described as the new republic comes at a time when he failed to fulfill the promises he made to the Egyptians since his famous speech on July 3, 2013 when he was defense minister, when he led a military coup that disrupted the constitution and overthrew President Mohamed Morsi, the first elected civilian president, and appointed a president. Temporarily to the country, saying that the army does not want power, but he quickly took off his uniform, ran for president, and then became president.

Followers say that Sisi pledged that Egypt would become "the leader of the world," but the reality came to the contrary after the Egyptian debt rose to record levels due to excessive reliance on borrowing, and Sisi ceded the islands of Tiran and Sanafir in the Red Sea in favor of Saudi Arabia, in addition to Egypt's negligence in Some of its economic rights to the waters of the Mediterranean, where there are promising natural gas fields.

In addition to the national soil and sea water, Egypt's share of the waters of the historically stable Nile River for decades has come into question after Sisi signed the 2015 agreement with Ethiopia, which approved Egypt's approval to build the Renaissance Dam, and then the negotiations between the two sides escalated and Ethiopia approached the second filling of the dam, not bothering with all attempts. Egypt is about to do so.
