More than 100 dead, this is the new assessment given by the Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea in France, joined by RFI.

And it is far from definitive.

The explosion of the munitions depot in

Nkoantoma, the military district of Bata, caused damage within a radius of 10 kilometers.

Many buildings in the economic capital were blown away by the blast, including churches, which were busy on Sunday.

The whole city is affected, testifies a representative of civil society whose family lives in Bata.

Children without parents, parents looking for their children, the homeless.

The clinic closest to the military camp saw many wounded arriving, their bodies riddled with pieces of glass.

To cope, the government of Equatorial Guinea has mobilized all the country's doctors and urges the population to donate blood.

But the Malabo authorities need foreign aid, recognizes the Equatorial Guinean ambassador to France.

He calls for help from neighboring countries: Congo-Brazzaville, Cameroon, Gabon.

But also to the solidarity of Europe.

Spain should send humanitarian aid.
