Munich (dpa / lby) - The Verdi union is calling for 4.5 percent and 45 euros per month more wages in collective bargaining for the retail sector in Bavaria.

In addition, the minimum wage is to rise to 12.50 euros per hour, as the union announced on Monday.

Verdi is aiming for a term of 12 months.

"Record sales in retail are based on record work by the employees," said Verdi negotiator Hubert Thiermeyer.

"In some companies, however, the employees had to accept severe wage cuts through short-time work for months."

A balance is needed here.

In addition to the salary claims, Verdi wants to ensure that the collective agreement is declared generally binding.

“The cutthroat competition in retail is often financed through dumping wages on the back of the employees.

The wage flight of many companies, long before the Corona crisis, exacerbated the situation, ”emphasized the union.

The current collective agreement runs until the end of April.
