Rostock (dpa / mv) - According to the trade unions, the corona crisis exacerbates the inequalities between women and men.

Above all women work in systemically relevant and at the same time underpaid professions, said the managing director of the DGB region Rostock-Schwerin, Fabian Scheller, on Monday in Rostock.

The trade unionists made their concerns clear with posters on International Women's Day.

In the crisis, women are particularly affected by the loss of income that they experience through time off, short-time work and unemployment.

At the same time, they took over most of the housework and family work and reduced their working hours in return.

The unions are working to ensure that there is adequate wage replacement during the pandemic-related closing times of daycare centers and schools.

The expanded child sickness benefit could help.
