Singapore Airlines inaugurates Covid-19 passport

Singapore Airlines will begin testing the device on flights between the city-state and London from March 15 to 28.

One in three destinations in the world is currently completely closed to international tourists due to the pandemic, the World Tourism Organization announced on Monday.

In an attempt to revive travel, Iata, the International Air Transport Association, is developing a “digital passport”.

Singapore Airlines will launch it next week.

Singapore Airlines will begin testing the device on flights between the city-state and London from March 15 to 28.

And only passengers whose smartphone works under IOS, in other words Apple devices, will be affected.

Once the app is downloaded, users will be able to book Covid-19 tests at a clinic

.

After registration, they will receive the test results on their Travel Pass.

When checking in on their flight, passengers will then be asked to prove that their health situation is compliant.

Ultimately, the application proposed by the International Air Transport Association could also make it possible to verify vaccination certificates according to destination.

In total, the tool will consist of four modules.

They will make it possible to find information on the trip, on laboratories ... Passengers can also check that the health documents they have are sufficient for their itinerary.

Other airlines, including Air New Zealand or Emirates, must also participate in the tests of this application.
