Munich (dpa / lby) - Regardless of the announced relaxation of the corona lockdown in retail, the vast majority of shops in Bavaria will remain closed.

Only in 30 of the 96 districts and independent cities in Bavaria did trade open on Monday, said Bernd Ohlmann, spokesman for the Bavarian Trade Association (HBE).

Because of the high corona incidence of 50 and more new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the shops in all major Bavarian cities with the exception of Ingolstadt and Würzburg were not open.

Most of the shops were open in several districts of Munich, but not in the state capital.

"It's a big hustle and bustle," said Ohlmann.

"There is a lot of confusion among both dealers and customers as to who is allowed to open and who is not."

The trade association fears that in some of the 30 open districts and cities the incidence numbers will rise above 50 and that the shops will have to close again after a short time.

"Whoever came up with this rule has no idea about retail," criticized Ohlmann.

Some companies have brought their employees back from short-time work and are now unable to open.

In addition, goods have to be ordered - according to the trade association, planning security is also necessary for this, which is lacking with the possibility of short-term closings.

The Easter business is the first sales peak of the year for retailers.

"They put a rotten egg in our Easter basket."
