Kordel (dpa / lrs) - The road near Kordel north of Trier, which collapsed five weeks ago due to a landslide, has been repaired.

It has been possible to drive again since Monday afternoon, said the State Office for Mobility (LBM) Rhineland-Palatinate in Koblenz.

The 40 or so residents of the Hochmark district are now connected to the road network again.

Since the landslide on February 1st, the only connection road to the Hochmark was cut.

The residents could only get from the hill to the valley by off-road vehicles over forest paths.

When they went shopping, they agreed with each other and formed car pools.

The renovation began on February 8th after the K29 collapsed about four meters over a length of about ten meters after heavy rainfall.

In the accident, a car and an unloaded timber truck slid into the crater on the steep slope, and the drivers were injured.
