The relationship begins

The couple is introduced via a mutual friend in 2016 and starts dating.

In October, the British press starts writing about the romance and in November, Prince Harry confirms that they are a couple.

The following year, they appear together in public and in November 2017, Prince Charles announces that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged.

The couple's relationship with the British press has been strained from the beginning.

Prince Harry believes that there are racist undertones in the reporting of his fiancée.

In May 2018, the couple will get married, the wedding will be televised.

Becoming more independent

In March 2019, it is announced that Prince Harry and Meghan will establish their own staff, previously they have shared staff with Prince William and Kate.

The couple is starting to plan to move from Kensington Palace to their own household on the Windsor estate.

In May 2019, the couple's first child, Archie, will be born.

The break is announced

The couple announces their decision to take a step back from their royal assignments in January 2020 and that they will partly live in North America.

Shortly after the decision, it is announced that the couple has agreed with the British court to give up their royal titles and are no longer "senior members" of the royal family.

In the British press, the break is called "Megxit", an allusion to Britain's divorce from the EU, Brexit.

Tells in interview

In March 2021, information was published in The Times that Meghan had treated employees at Kensington Palace so badly that they chose to resign.

When the couple is interviewed by Oprah Winfrey on March 8, 2021, more details will come about why they chose to break completely with the royal family.

According to Prince Harry, the triggering factor was that the couple was denied personal protection when they resigned their royal duties.

They also testify that Meghan was deeply depressed and that a person close to them in the royal house asked questions about how dark skin color their then unborn son Archie would get.

The couple believes that the information about bullying of staff is part of the court's strategy to "build a false narrative".

The British court has not yet responded to the information in the Winfrey interview.

The interview will be broadcast in its entirety on March 8 at 21.00 on TV3 and Viafree.
