The explosion of mines in the province of Hama, in central Syria, left at least 18 dead on Sunday.
According to state television, these mines had been "left by terrorist groups".
Three people were also injured in the blast.
According to the official Sana news agency, all those killed were "civilians".
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) said they were probably farmers.

The site of the explosion is in a war zone.
In Syria, more than 10 million people live in areas riddled with mines, according to the UN.
Thousands of civilians have already been injured by explosives left in fields, on roads or even in buildings by the various belligerents, in particular the jihadists of the Islamic State group.
Hundreds more were killed by these explosives, according to OSDH.
The war in Syria, which began in March 2011, left more than 387,000 dead and displaced millions of people.
It has become more complex over the years, with the intervention of several foreign powers and the rise of jihadist groups.
