The mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, possible presidential candidate, pleaded Monday for a better representation of women in power, stressing however that her "sorority" would not go so far as to vote for Marine Le Pen in the second round, even if she is female.

"I'm not going to say that she is not a woman, she has characteristics of a different nature, she is the extreme right. Obviously facing the extreme right, even embodied by a woman, my sorority does not would really not be there, "assured the elected Socialist, interviewed on France Inter on the occasion of Women's Rights Day.

"For my part, I will always defeat the far right whatever the configuration", she added, questioned on the possibility that the Republican front will crack in the event of a Macron / Le Pen duel in the second round then that some left-wing voters say in the polls that they would vote neither for the outgoing head of state nor for the president of the National Rally.

Deploring "the blockages in particular in the world of power" concerning the place of women, Mrs. Hidalgo considered that the French, who "today undoubtedly want to be better represented", "are really much more in advance than the political apparatuses and that many leaders ".

"It is all the same incredible that in our country since Edith Cresson, Prime Minister more than thirty years ago, there has not been a woman Prime Minister. What is it? would not have women competent enough to exercise this responsibility, "she denounced.

She pleaded for the law to "accompany or even amplify" the desire of certain business leaders to give more space to women in management positions via a quota policy.
