Winterberg (dpa / lnw) - In Winterberg in the Sauerland, the first ski lifts open on Tuesday.

"The aim is to put the entire main axis into operation," announced the Winterberg ski lift carousel on Monday evening.

Following the example of the Hessian state government, NRW has now also given permission to operate lifts.

In addition to the eight lifts that were initially open, more should be added over the course of Tuesday.

The lift operation will start on the basis of an extensive hygiene concept: it will include a sharp reduction in the number of visitors.

Winter sports enthusiasts would have to buy their tickets online at www.skiliftkarussell.de and book an appointment before their visit.

Only holders of valid tickets would be admitted to the ski area.

In this way, the operators want to ensure that the flow of visitors remains manageable and controllable.

When queuing and during the lift ride, you must keep your distance and wear a mask.

On Monday, the ski lifts in North Rhine-Westphalia were initially closed, while they were open in Willingen, Hesse, just a few kilometers away.

"That is of course incomprehensible," said a spokeswoman for the Sauerland winter sports arena on Sunday.
