The American attitude towards Iran changed a bit, after President Joe Biden came to power.

In an interview with the British newspaper "The Financial Times", Mohsen Rezaei, who commanded the Iranian Revolutionary Guard for 16 years, said that his country is ready to return to the negotiating table with conditions .. The following are excerpts from the dialogue:

- There have been diplomatic moves in the recent period .. What is happening with regard to Iranian-American relations?

There is an indication of Iran's willingness to do business with the United States.

They (the Americans) can announce and assure us that all the sanctions imposed after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the 2015 nuclear deal) will be lifted, in less than a year.

And we'll go and negotiate this process.

- Sanctions are an important issue for the Tehran government ... is not it?

We have to see, during the talks, that some of the sanctions which are urgent for us will be lifted.

For example, the sanctions imposed on financial transactions should be lifted, and restrictions imposed by European banks should be lifted.

Oil exports are also among our top priorities.

And other US moves, such as: helping to free billions of dollars of Iranian money held in foreign banks, for example, to encourage the start of talks.

What can Tehran do?

Iran will use several methods, in accordance with international laws, to get the United States to back down and lift the sanctions.

The negotiations will not go a step forward, as long as we do not see any actions on the part of the Americans, and so long as there is no confidence.

And our nuclear program will go forward.

The United States and European countries have always wanted to apply more pressure to curb Iran's missile program and its role in regional conflicts, yet Tehran has resisted this pressure.

-Tehran has maintained its position, and has not responded to international demands ... How long will that last?

Biden may have some desire, but it cannot materialize in some areas.

Iran also has a very important geopolitical position in the region, and no issue in the region can be addressed without Iran's participation.

We do not see any reason for not developing defensive weapons within our legitimate defense policies, which exclude atomic bombs and nuclear weapons, because they are unacceptable to us.

Does Iran intend to expand the existing range of ballistic missiles?

We respect some limitations, including limiting the range of ballistic missiles at 2,000 km, for now, as long as our opponents do not develop missiles that exceed that range to strike us.

- Some forces supporting reform have expressed their concern about the accession of military figures to high positions in the state.

What would be wrong if military figures came to power, through democratic means?

Take, for example, Charles de Gaulle and the American Dwight de Eisenhower.

The Iranians have come to the conclusion that they need a strong, effective, accountable, and accountable government.

These traits are stronger in veteran and military characters than others.

There are those who want to postpone the negotiations until after the elections.

What is your opinion?

I do not think so.

The timing of the talks depends on the national interests of the country, and it was the Supreme Leader who determined the negotiation policy.

And again, there is one voice that is being heard from Iran as it happened during the nuclear talks (2013-2015).

I see no reason for Iran to help achieve security in Iraq and Syria, and then see other countries reap economic benefits.

So I think Iranian products should have a strong presence in the region.
