By starting up right now, they also want to make a mark because they think that the culture was treated extremely unfairly during the pandemic.

- When others cancel, we start up.

It is not culture that is contagious, it is congestion.

We believe that culture is more important than ever in these times.

The culture has been treated extremely unfairly, says Magnus Thuvesson, chairman of Folketshus in Älmhult.

Different kinds of music

Plans to do between 30 and 40 concerts this year and three acts are already booked.

- We will offer narrower pop, jazz and folk music.

I myself have a background as chairman of Swedish Jazz, so there I have my passion and my heart.

We will call it a jazz club, but it is more of a format than a genre, says Magnus Thuvesson.

Not sure how big the audience can be

How many there will be in the audience on April 15 when the first act is booked is still unclear.

Magnus Thuvesson hopes that the government will follow a response from the Swedish Public Health Agency, which means that from 11 April it will be possible for 50 people to stay indoors in designated places.

- If no one is on stage, today we can take in about 40 people in the restaurant, but if it is a concert, it falls under the law of order and then it is eight people that apply.

We hope that at the first concert we will be 50 people, but we will also perform it with eight.

The club will be a collaboration with Musik i Syd, but they have also applied for money from the cultural council, the Swedish Music Agency and Älmhult municipality.
