Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - In Saarland, 51 companies have so far been visited to check compliance with the home office regulation.

The Saarland Ministry of the Environment for the State Office for Environment and Occupational Safety announced that deficiencies were found in 26 companies and had to be remedied.

The deficiencies were, for example, a lack of justification as to why a home office is not possible, deficits in the provision of FFP2 masks or in the organization to avoid contact.

According to the Corona Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance issued by Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) at the end of January, employers must offer their employees the opportunity to carry out office work or similar activities in their homes - unless there are compelling operational reasons to the contrary.

If that is not possible, companies should, for example, set up small and permanent work groups.

The Prime Minister of the federal states and Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) agreed at their most recent round of negotiations on Wednesday that the regulations on home office should be extended until April 30th.

This is to reduce the risk of employees getting infected at work or on the way there.

A task force was set up in Saarland on January 22nd, among other things to monitor the Corona Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance and to respond to complaints.

This consists of five employees from occupational safety and one employee specializing in product safety.

"We mainly receive inquiries or complaints from employees, a few from employers and so far a request from an interest group," it said.
