Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg's Minister of Health Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) has admitted deficiencies in the previous planning for the corona vaccinations.

“We're improving, and this week especially, but the others aren't sleeping either.

We are still in an extremely bad position in the country ranking - and that has to change, ”said Nonnemacher on Monday in Potsdam.

"We have to pick up a lot more speed."

She defended that the consulting firm Kienbaum had been commissioned to advise on the vaccination strategy.

In terms of the proportion of people with a first corona vaccination in the population for several days, Brandenburg has been in last place in a nationwide comparison.

Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) had demanded more speed for vaccinations last week and indirectly criticized Nonnemacher's vaccination strategy.

The minister pointed out that since the weekend, people over 70 can also book a vaccination appointment with the vaccine from Astrazeneca online.

She announced that the vaccinations in the eleven vaccination centers will be expanded.

According to the doctors, there is still free capacity this week in Elsterwerda, Prenzlau, and a few places in Luckenwalde and Kyritz.
