Munich (dpa / bb) - In a nationwide comparison, a particularly large number of women hold management positions in companies in Brandenburg.

According to calculations by the credit agency Crif Bürgel, 31.4 percent of all management positions at companies in Brandenburg are held by women.

This means that Brandenburg is still far from parity, but it is clearly ahead of all other federal states.

In second and third place are Saxony with 29.4 percent and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with 29.2 percent, in last place are Bremen, Baden-Württemberg and Hamburg with rates between 22 and 24 percent.

Women in Brandenburg also have an above-average number of chairpersons on supervisory boards, at 19.2 percent.

According to the figures from Crif Bürgel, the proportion of women in management positions is strongly related to the size of a company.

While women in companies with up to 10 employees occupy an average of around 26 percent of management positions nationwide, the quota for companies that employ more than 1,000 people drops to around 15 percent.

There are also major differences between the industries: in the healthcare sector, around 37 percent of managers are women, in mechanical engineering it is only 9.4 percent.
