Schönefeld (dpa / bb) - The airline Eurowings is stationing three aircraft at BER and is relocating a good 100 jobs to the location.

After the opening of the new base with three Airbus planes in April, there will be up to three connections a day with Cologne, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, as the Lufthansa subsidiary announced on Monday.

Flights are planned in the early morning and in the evening.

The new base enables many former Berlin pilots and flight attendants to return, for example from the insolvent Air Berlin to Eurowings.

Numerous holiday destinations are in the airline's summer flight schedule.

They want to fly the Berliners and Brandenburgers on vacation after the end of the Corona restrictions, said Eurowings boss Jens Bischof.

The company also assumes that Berlin will, for its part, remain a tourist magnet.

After the collapse of air traffic in the Corona crisis, the airlines had canceled en masse connections.

The Lufthansa Group now sees itself as the market leader at Germany's third largest airport.
