Hamburg (AP) - After eight high-quality minibuses were stolen in Hamburg, the police arrested eight suspects.

A police spokesman announced on Monday in Hamburg that the Ukrainian gang wanted to get the vehicles out of the country to Poland.

A 29-year-old was arrested near Ratzeburg, a 26-year-old was arrested in Frankfurt (Oder).

The Magdeburg autobahn police stopped a 32-year-old.

Two other men, aged 30 and 35, were caught near Potsdam.

All five suspects were reportedly traveling in minibuses that were stolen in Hamburg in February.

The investigators then targeted an apartment in Hamburg-Wandsbek.

Immediately before the apartment was searched, three other men drove off from there.

The alleged thieves aged 28, 32 and 39 years were caught on the Polish border.

In the apartment, the investigators found license plates, vehicle documents and 10,000 euros in cash.

There were also indications that the gang is responsible for further car thefts in Germany and the Netherlands.
