Last Thursday, doctor Osama Alhashimy was vaccinated against covid-19 with Astra Zeneca's vaccine.
Just a couple of hours later, he began to feel unwell with chills, headaches and sweating.
The next day he got a headache, fever and had pain in his arm where he had received the sting.
- We have vaccinated patients here with Pfizer's vaccine and have not heard of any side effects, so I was a little shocked, he says.
Had to stay home the next day
The side effects meant that Osama Alhashimy had to report sick the next day.
But there is nothing that scares him to take dose two.
- The only thing I was worried about was getting sick in covid-19.
Rather a few side effects than getting sick, he says.
In February, two regions suspended the vaccination of healthcare professionals after more people than expected took sick leave after receiving the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
