Frankfurt (dpa) - The Frankfurt Book Fair is to take place again this year as a face-to-face event.

The organizers announced this on Monday in Frankfurt.

Publishers can register for the 73rd edition of the fair from October 20th to 24th from now until May 31st.

Last year there was an almost exclusively digital version due to the corona.

The motto of the fair is "Re-encounter (re: connect)".

The face-to-face event will be supplemented by digital formats and can be flexibly adapted to the developments of the corona pandemic.

The focus is on international rights trading and high-reach offers for the public, it said.

Canada is making up for its appearance as Guest of Honor this year.

"The Frankfurt Book Fair will again be an important meeting place in 2021 - for the book industry, for authors and readers," said Book Fair Managing Director Juergen Boos.

"The industry needs exchange and visibility more than ever."

In the past few months, intensive discussions have been held with customers and a trade fair concept tailored to the needs of the exhibitors has been created.
