Last Thursday, the Lille police arrested a man as part of an investigation into the theft of a large stock of baby clothes, we learned on Monday from the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP) of the North.

On February 15, police went to the home of a 30-year-old Lille resident.

During the home search, officials found 33 boxes filled with infant clothes.

Asked about the origin of this large quantity of layettes, the suspect affirmed that the merchandise belonged to him without providing any convincing justification as to its origin.

A lot stolen from a truck in February

Unconvinced, the police therefore opened proceedings for the offense of concealment and further investigations were undertaken.

The investigators were thus able to determine that the boxes present at the respondent's home came from a lot stolen from a truck in Leers on February 10.

Except that the lot consisted of 59 boxes, 26 are therefore still in nature.

The Lille defendant was finally arrested again on Thursday and placed in police custody.

He was summoned to court in early April for concealment of theft.
