Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The health authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate reported 181 new corona infections at the beginning of the week.

5569 people in the country are currently infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus, as the state investigation office announced on Monday (as of 2.10 p.m.).

The number of patients who died with or from the virus rose by 6 to 3,168.

The so-called seven-day incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days, was 46.2 on Monday in the whole of Rhineland-Palatinate - and thus below the value a week ago (49.1) .

The highest incidence was in the district of Germersheim with 121.7.

This is followed by the Altenkirchen district (83.8) and the Neuwied district (83.7).

Of the 36 districts and cities, 24 are below an incidence of 50. The lowest incidence is in the Kusel district with 14.2.

In the state capital Mainz it is 37.5.

The pandemic began in Rhineland-Palatinate at the end of February 2020 with a positive test in Koblenz.

Since then, 104,420 people in the state have been proven to have been infected with Sars-CoV-2.
