[Explanation] In China's fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Chinese medicine has contributed an important force. The government work report in 2021 mentioned that it is necessary to adhere to both Chinese and Western medicine and implement major projects for the revitalization and development of Chinese medicine.

On March 6, Yang Yufei, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the chief researcher of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, said in an interview with China News Agency that as a Chinese medicine practitioner, he felt proud while also feeling great responsibility.

This year’s government work report on Chinese medicine talks about adhering to both Chinese and Western medicine and implementing major projects in the development of Chinese medicine. Last year’s report promoted the revitalization and development of Chinese medicine and strengthened the integration of Chinese and Western medicine. This is a qualitative change.

That is to say, after a major epidemic, the country has become more determined to adhere to both Chinese and Western medicine, and at the same time began to implement major projects for the development of Chinese medicine.

I think we are very proud of being TCM practitioners, and we also feel that we have a long way to go and a great responsibility.

[Explanation] In China's thousand-year history, Chinese medicine has accumulated a lot of experience in fighting the epidemic, with a huge cultural background and unique technical system.

The focus of TCM treatment is not to kill a certain virus in a targeted manner, but to achieve the purpose of treatment by enhancing people's own immunity.

Yang Yufei believes that because of this, in the "post-epidemic" era, Chinese medicine will play an important role in the new coronary pneumonia rehabilitation system.

I think in the "post-epidemic" era, (Chinese medicine) will play a better role.

Because Chinese medicine treats diseases, it stimulates the body's self-stable state, right?

It works through the flora of our intestines, and at the same time, how we eat and raise our ideas will play a very good role.

[Explanation] According to data from the National Health Commission, at the end of 2019, there were more than 65,000 Chinese medicine medical and health institutions nationwide, with an annual diagnosis and treatment volume of 1.16 billion people, of which 680 million Chinese medicine hospitals, accounting for 58.0%.

How to further promote the development and application of Chinese medicine, in Yang Yufei’s view, first of all, we should consider how to continue to benefit the people and benefit more grassroots people. At the same time, we should also see that it can cope with people’s illnesses worldwide. Bringing more help, Chinese medicine "going to the sea" has a lot to do.

We still need to apply these concepts and methods of traditional Chinese medicine that both Chinese and Western medicine are equally important to our grassroots and our rural areas, so that the people can really benefit, and they must also be applied to the grassroots and go abroad.

In fact, overseas we know that the technique of Chinese medicine is our acupuncture technique, which is widely spread. It has been covered by insurance in 17 countries and has been widely recognized, but it is only a small part of Chinese medicine.

Our Chinese medicine is extensive and profound. In addition to acupuncture and moxibustion, it not only has acupuncture, but also our herbal medicine for differentiation of symptoms and signs, as well as our proprietary Chinese medicines, as well as various methods of non-drug treatment and physical exercise.

I also hope to introduce the non-drug treatment and drug treatment of Chinese medicine to benefit more people in the world.
