Recently, as it became known that the South Korean military missed the fact that a North Korean man had swam down, there is a high voice that the front line of the perimeter should be checked again.

However, as a result of our interviews, it was confirmed that the surveillance equipment did not work properly for about 10km of the forefront railings with sensors and CCTV installed.

This is an exclusive report by Kim Tae-hoon, a national defense reporter.

In October 2016, the core of the scientific boundary system built on all the forefront fences is a combination of optical network, that is, optical cable wire fence and surveillance camera.

When a certain level of force is applied to the optical network, a surveillance camera captures it and transmits the video to the control room.

However, in August of last year, heavy rains and typhoons resulted in the loss of about 17 km of the forward scientific border.

The Army said it would restore all sections by the end of the year at the state administration audit.

However, as a result of the interview, it was confirmed that the scientific iron fence of the 10km section, including the current 5th Division in Yeoncheon 4.5km, the 7th and 15th divisions in Hwacheon 2km, and several hundred meters of the 22nd Goseong Division, where a swim defector was recently discovered, has not been restored.

It is a structure that can lead to a vigilance failure at any time if a soldier sells a glance.

The Army has been allocated a budget since the end of September last year and is in the process of restoring, but it has been explained that the corona 19 situation and the cold weather overlapped the construction.

The explanations of related companies are different.

['Scientific fence' company official: It's a natural disaster, and it's not anywhere else, and the iron fence is pierced.

I have to get a budget from anywhere and give it to a company that can do it quickly, but looking at what I'm doing now, some companies are weaving a light net by hand and it's a spectacle.] Even

though it is an urgent construction, the military responded easily according to the general restoration procedure. Is that there is.

When the SBS coverage began, the Army announced that most of the sections would be restored by the end of May, and that the 5th Division, which had severe losses, would complete the construction by July.
