  • The installation of the five pylons as well as the unwinding and tensioning of the cable car cables were successful.

  • The three stations spread over the three kilometers of route have emerged from the earth.

  • Initially scheduled for the end of 2020, the cable car should be put into service at the end of the year.

    With a year late.

Since the start of the works in July 2019, it has gained more and more height. Despite a delay due to the health crisis, the construction of Téléo, the urban cable car in Toulouse, is progressing with in particular the successful installation of the five pylons. and unwinding and tensioning of cables.

The Toulouse cable car which will link Paul-Sabatier University to the Oncopole site, via the Rangueil University Hospital, will soon receive its fifteen cabins for the first tests in real conditions at the end of the summer.

The dry run of the first cabins will begin in the fourth quarter and Téléo should be put into service at the end of the year.

Section of the future southern belt

The three stations spread over the three kilometers of route have already emerged from the earth.

Their name is now known: Oncopole / Lise-Enjalbert station (named after a Toulouse virologist), Rangueil / Louis-Lareng Hospital station (the founder of Samu) and Paul-Sabatier University station.

"This structure is an alternative means of transport to the car and which has its place in the multimodal service strategy, in connection with the metro lines, the bus network and the new cycle path between Saint-Cyprien and the Oncopole" , underlines Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR), the mayor of Toulouse.

The cable car will thus constitute the first section of the future southern belt, aimed at improving service to major facilities in the south of the metropolis.

This new mode of transport will link the Oncopole to Paul-Sabatier University in ten minutes, instead of 30 minutes by car.

Markings for wildlife and plantations

The construction of Téléo required measures in favor of the environment, in particular so as not to disturb the flora and fauna.

Between the Oncopole and Rangueil hospital, crossing the “Confluence Garonne-Ariège” regional nature reserve, which welcomes birds and bats, was difficult.

The first cables unwound by helicopter are of a large diameter to be seen by these species.

While waiting for the final cables to be pulled, the cable unrolled above the Garonne was fitted with “avifauna” markings, that is to say adorned with flags and colored discs to protect the 70 species of birds. migratory birds that fly over it, as well as bats.

The flora has also been the subject of special attention, saving as many trees as possible and planting 400 new ones on the sites under construction.

On the agricultural plots of Pouvourville, a plantation of country hedges, made up of 1,500 forest plants, is in progress.

In the green zone of Pech David, where Téléo passes, nearly 1,600 forest plants will emerge from the ground at the end of the year.
