Erfurt (dpa / th) - According to trade unions, the sequence of vaccinations within the Thuringian police should not be based on the activities of the officials.

"We do not want any distinction between police officers, police officers or patrol officers when vaccinating," said the Thuringian chief of the police union (GdP), Kai Christ, the German press agency.

In his opinion, prioritization within the police should be based primarily on criteria such as previous illnesses or age.

There are enough colleagues with heart problems or those who have survived cancer, for example.

These must have priority, demanded Christ.

When it comes to the vaccination sequence, police and law enforcement officers in Thuringia who are exposed to a high risk of infection at work, for example because they secure demonstrations, are classified in priority group two.

You can already be vaccinated.

Other policemen are supposed to get in touch later.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, there is a sequence of vaccinations within the Thuringian police that is “based on the contact options, the different organizational units, the importance and availability of the staff”.

The Thuringian chairman of the German Police Union (DPolG), Jürgen Hoffmann, urged that the Thuringian police be vaccinated as quickly as possible.

In his opinion, the police medical service should give the officers the injection.

Police officers can already have a corona vaccination earlier than planned - using the so-called hop-on procedure.

Means: If the vaccine remains and threatens to expire, a police officer can step in and have an injection given.

Christ said that the hop-on procedure should not differentiate according to the police officers' activities, but rather according to risk characteristics.
