Three out of four employees at crisis Nolia have already been laid off due to the pandemic.

The trade fair company that feeds on meetings between people has lost revenue as society has been shut down.

All three owners, Skellefteå, Piteå and Umeå municipality went in with five million extra each last year, but in February this year, Skellefteå Stadshus AB voted to leave the co-ownership.

This has put pressure on the other two co-owners, Piteå and Umeå municipal companies, to come in with even more money to save the company.

- There were two alternatives for us.

One is bankruptcy in the long run or to go in with equity as an owner.

There is too much at stake to put the company into bankruptcy.

Nolia means a lot to both municipalities, says Hans Lindberg (S).

Piteå raises the issue on Monday

Piteå's municipal councilor Anders Lundkvist (S) has already given the same message to SVT Nyheter Norrbotten, that he is ready to start the rescue operation.

A formal decision has not yet been made.

The moderates in Piteå want to sell the company and let someone else run the business.

Hans Lindberg (S) thinks this is out of the question.

- Selling the company when it is worth zero kronor does not feel like an alternative, he says.
