He had been wanted for nearly five months.

A man suspected of being one of the two main attackers of two police officers seriously injured by gunshot in Herblay, in Val-d'Oise, was indicted and remanded in custody on Friday, we learned on Saturday near the Pontoise prosecutor's office.

This man, suspected of having, on October 7, beaten up and shot at these officials in surveillance in an industrial area after stealing their service weapon, was arrested on Friday in Clichy-la-Garenne, in the Hauts -de-Seine.

His alleged accomplice had been arrested at the beginning of December at his home in Nanterre, after two months on the run, and also indicted for attempted murder of persons with public authority.

The man arrested on Friday was in the same apartment but had managed to escape, according to a police source.

At the beginning of the week, he was located in Paris and then, after a spinning, in Clichy, the same source added, stressing that this man had benefited from "large logistical support for hiding".

Six days after the assault on the two policemen, another man surrendered to the police, claiming his innocence.

He was also indicted for attempted murder.

The two officials, aged 30 and 45, were in an unmarked car for a surveillance mission.

One of them suffers from significant after-effects, according to police sources.
