Mannheim (dpa) - The CDU district association of the Mannheim Bundestag member Nikolas Löbel, who is involved in business with mask procurement, calls on the politician to withdraw more quickly than planned.
"We demand and appeal to him to withdraw from all offices and mandates by March 31, 2021 at the latest, in order to save all those involved an unnecessary hangover," said the CDU Mannheim district executive on Sunday after a meeting.
Against the background of the events, this is "inevitable, logical and consistent".
Löbel had been CDU district chief in Mannheim until the end, but had given up this post on Sunday morning.
At the same time, he had announced that, although he would not run for a new Bundestag mandate in the upcoming election, he would keep his current mandate until the end of August.
He will end his membership in the CDU / CSU parliamentary group immediately.
Löbel had admitted participation in controversial business with corona protective masks on Friday.
The district executive was "surprised, shocked and stunned".
