- We now have an establishment underway in northeastern Skåne, in a small limited area.

We have five findings in total, says Per-Arne Åhlén, project manager for Invasiva.se, the group that works to combat invasive animal species in the country, to the radio.

The new species for the country is notorious for causing enormous damage to society.

Partly by influencing the biological diversity, partly by damage that ultimately affects people.

The life goal of a stone marten seems to be to get into a car or a building and gnaw on electrical cables.

It is something that costs billions on the continent, says Per-Arne Åhlén to the radio.

He says that on two occasions stone martens managed to get into the particle accelerator in Cern and gnawed at cables that caused a total stop.

The species has probably traveled to Sweden by transport from the continent.

It is not yet listed as an invasive species by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
