Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The corona-related closings have so far cost the Baden-Württemberg hospitality industry seven billion euros, according to the Dehoga industry association.

Even a good summer season with strong domestic tourism could not compensate for the losses, said a spokesman for the hotel and restaurant association at the request of the German press agency.

The annual turnover in the industry is normally around 12.5 billion euros.

If hotels, restaurants and bars are allowed to reopen in the summer, good demand can be expected, said the spokesman - “both in the catering trade and in the holiday hotel industry”.

The feedback from the guests is positive.

"A lot of people miss the gastronomy and hotel industry."

But the crisis will leave its mark on the hospitality industry for years to come.

Restaurants, cafes and pubs have been closed nationwide since November.

Last year, the establishments were closed from the end of March to mid-May.
