The demonstration at Medborgarplatsen in Stockholm went under the name Tusenmannamarschen för frihet & sanning and gathered about 600 people, according to the police's assessment.

According to current rules for public gatherings and public events, it is forbidden to gather more than eight people, due to the risk of being infected with covid-19.

"The time for large crowds is not here.

Following the law of order is not voluntary ", Mikael Damberg writes to TT.

"The restrictions of a maximum of eight people at demonstrations exist for an important reason and that is to reduce the spread of infection," he continues, pointing out that it is now a serious situation where everyone must take their responsibility.

Angry atmosphere

The police disbanded the demonstration, which had not applied for permission, but the protesters continued towards Kungsträdgården and the atmosphere was a bit angry.

Around 50 people were driven away in buses.

Five police officers were injured during the demonstration.

One of these was taken to hospital for care and control, but has left the hospital.

"The police acted professionally to ensure that the demonstration dissolved.

My thoughts go to the medical staff who are struggling in the pandemic and who were met by the demonstrators' total lack of respect, but especially to the police who were injured during yesterday's demonstration ", says Mikael Damberg.

No detainee

According to the police's press spokesperson Per Fahlström, no person is in custody on Sunday morning.

- But there are still people who are suspected of crime, says Per Fahlström.

Police have previously announced that 50 people removed from the rally, and that about 600 people participated in the demonstration.

- It was a fairly large command, with a lot of people working, so we are compiling exact figures now, says Per Fahlström.
