Königs Wusterhausen (dpa / bb) - Around 31,600 eligible voters are voting today in Königs Wusterhausen in a referendum on the future of their mayor Swen Ennulat (Free Independent Voting Community of Königs Wusterhausen).

The motion for the referendum was approved in the city council at the beginning of January.

The mayor of the city in the district of Dahme-Spreewald is complaining about the blocking policy of the parliament.

The preliminary official final result is to be announced in the evening.

According to the Brandenburg electoral law, an incumbent is voted out if the majority of those eligible to vote, but at least a quarter, votes for his or her removal.

The mayor's representative then takes over the official business.

A successor to office must be elected within five months.
