Burma: determined protesters, deadly raid on political opposition

In Burma, the repression does not weaken against the pro-democracy demonstrators.
Again in the street, this Sunday, to protest against the military coup, several demonstrators were injured following clashes with the police.
At the same time, the military junta wants to tighten the stranglehold around the political opposition.

Detonations still echo in the Burmese streets.
In Bagan, a city in the center of the country, a teenager was shot in the jaw, according to rescue teams on the spot.
According to local media, at least several people were injured, particularly in Yangon, the economic capital of Burma, where the police used firearms to disperse the crowd.
But the mobilization does not stop.
On the contrary, pro-democracy activists are calling for new rallies in the coming days and are continuing their call for a national strike.
The objective is to put the military junta in difficulty by putting the country's economy at a standstill.

The regime is, for its part, determined to stifle this dispute: on the one hand, by threatening to dismiss all striking officials from Monday;
on the other hand, by attacking the political opposition.
Last night, raids targeted officials of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi's party.
The number of people arrested is still unknown, but an initial assessment attests that a local party official has died.
